The Walking Dead Adds Ross Marquand as Regular Cast Member

The Walking Dead is getting yet another regular cast member. He could be playing someone from the comics...

The Walking Dead season 5b is quickly taking shape, as Rick and the group prepare to get back on the road on Feb. 8. Until then, we're receiving little tidbits of casting news.

According to THR, Ross Marquand has been cast as a series regular and is set to appear in the second half of season 5 as well as return for season 6. Marquand is still a bit of a newcomer to television. His credits include Down and Dangerous, A Lonely Place for Dying, and The Congregation. He also voiced Han Solo on Phineas and Ferb if you care to know.

While the jury is still out on who Marquand might be playing on the show, I should point out that Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead, previously said on Talking Dead that a gay character from the comics would be introduced in the second half of season 5. This could mean that Aaron is about to enter the stage as Rick and friends get closer to the next big storyline of the series.

I'll get into who Aaron is in a few seconds. If you're terrified of spoilers, I suggest you stop here. Our favorite zombie bicycle girl will try to convince you further:

Oh, you ain't afraid of no spoiler? Good then. Here's the deal with Aaron:

He is first introduced in issue #67 of the comic book and is a recruiter for the Alexandria Safe-Zone, the most prominent setting in the entire series. It is undoubtedly where the show is going to go next, as the group continues to head north. Aaron, along with his boyfriend Eric, recruit people to join the Safe-Zone.

When Aaron first runs into Rick and friends on the road to Washington, he is impressed by the group and decides to let them "audition" for entry. Of course, Rick just captures Aaron and ties him up. Sheriff Rick isn't playing any games, anymore. Aaron eventually proves that he is no Governor by saving the group from some walkers and leads them back to the Safe-Zone.

Interestingly enough, Aaron has a pretty long lifespan in the comic, considering how often people die in the story. In fact, he's still alive and kicking. Eric is dead, though, and that's bullshit. No one can be happy in The Walking Dead ever.
