Michael Fassbender is Steve Jobs

Michael Fassbender is Steve Jobs, and Danny Boyle is directing, as the biopic of the Apple co-founder finally starts shooting.

It's taken some time to get going, but the biopic of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs has finally begun production. The film is officially now titled Steve Jobs, and it's currently shooting in San Francisco.

Furthermore, Michael Fassbender is the man who's taking on the role of Jobs in the movie (a role that had been linked to Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale at different stages), and he leads a cast that also includes Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak, Jeff Daniels, Katherine Waterston and Michael Stuhlbarg.

Steve Jobs is being directed by Danny Boyle (who himself stepped in when David Fincher passed), with Aaron Sorkin providing the screenplay, based on Walter Isaacson's biography of Jobs.

It's possible that Universal may try and get the film into cinemas before the end of the year, if it thinks it has an awards contender on its hands. But given how long the project has been in gestation - with many people linked and moving on - it must just be a relief all round to finally start shooting the movie.
