Eerie Trailer Lands for The Hum: Abductions

Aliens invade and terrorise a family home in the first-person horror game, The Hum: Abductions. Here's a trailer...

In recent years, games like Gone Home have created convincing worlds that are all the more atmospheric and unnerving for their lack of firearms or brutal combat. Forthcoming first-person horror The Hum: Abductions could be another one of those games.

You play a mother whose infant son is abducted by aliens. And as you can see from the first trailer below - compiled, we're guessing, from the first few minutes of the game - these extraterrestrials have clearly been watching Close Encounters Of The Third Kind.

The use of lighting and shadows looks effective, and reading through The Hum's website, there's lots more to the game than we're currently seeing: the game will delve into the mother's past to find out what happened to her husband, who also mysteriously vanished months before. There'll also be scenes where "you will play inside your mind" as you're being experimented on.

The Hum: Abductions is also one part of a much larger sci-fi horror universe about an alien invasion - concept art on the game's website shows a world overrun by lanky extraterrestrials and their organic war machines. If The Hum: Abductions is a success, it could lead to a series of interlinked, first-person adventures.

The Hum: Abductions is being developed for PC, Mac and PlayStation 4 with Oculus Rift support also planned. There's no release date yet, but we'll keep you posted when one comes in.
