Watch the trailer for a new true story horror about man and woman vs. bear survival: Backcountry.Never get lost in the woods. This should probably seem like common sense, but it makes for a great starting point in horror, especially when it is loosely based on a true story.
For further proof, look no further than the trailer for next month’s Backcountry, an IFC Midnight production about what happens when a couple goes off the beaten path to their own peril.
As seen in the new trailer, Alex (Jeff Roop) and Jenn (Missy Peregrym) have a weekend in the wild spoiled when the more seasoned camper of the two, Alex, convinces his girlfriend to explore the remote Blackfoot Trail in Provincial Park. After three days in the woods, and following a strange encounter with the intimidating and leering Brad (Eric Balfour), the two become hopelessly lost. At first, their biggest fear seems to be whether or not Brad is following them, not to mention finding their way out of the woods. However, this all becomes secondary when they realize they have stumbled into bear territory, and life and death appear about a bear claw apart.
Backcountry is directed by Adam MacDonald and opens March 20, 2015.
