Paula Patton to Star in ABC Pilot, Runner

With only a few TV guest spots to her name, actress Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, 2 Guns) has worked almost exclusively in movies, but that’s all about to change as Deadline reports she will headline the Traffic-esque ABC drama pilot “Runner.”

Adapted by writer Michael Cooney (Identity) from the Turkish series “Son,” “Runner” will be directed by TV vet Michael Offer (“How to Get Away with Murder”) and center on the illicit world of arms dealing through the eyes of a woman.

Here’s the plot summary: Lauren Marks (Patton) is a wife and mother who had believed her husband had died in a plane crash, only to discover him alive, well and traveling with a mysterious woman who uses Lauren’s stolen identity. Thrown into a world of secrets and crime, Lauren finds herself running into Mexican cartels and people from her past she had hoped to forget.

Patton will next be seen onscreen as Horde member Garona Halforcen in Duncan Jones’ big budget Warcraft movie, currently in post-production for a spring 2016 release.
