New Trailer for Sci-Fi Must See Ex Machina

Watch the latest seductive trailer for Ex Machina, a sci-fi robot film with Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson and Alicia Vikander.

Alex Garland is a name that most genre fans should know. In addition to being a novelist, he has written screenplays for several of the most admired cult classics of the last 15 years, including 28 Days Later, Sunshine, and Dredd. His newest film also marks his directorial debut, and with a cast that features Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, and Alicia Vikander, Ex Machina should already be seductive, never mind the curving mechanics.

In the new film, Caleb Smith (Gleeson) is a programmer and Internet wunderkind who is recruited to the mysterious estate of a reclusive CEO named Nathan Bateman (Isaac). As it turns out, Caleb has been selected to perform as the human component of the Turing Test (see: Blade Runner, The Imitation Game and everything in between). Caleb will be asked to evaluate the capabilities and artificial intelligence of Nathan’s masterpiece: Ava (Vikander), a robot that is more sophisticated and layered than two men could ever imagine.

With an SXSW premiere set for March and an April 10, 2015 release date in the U.S. the film is already on all of our calendars, and it should probably be on yours as well. After all, how can you not want to see what appears to be Isaac Asimov meets Pygmalion?
