Metal Gear Solid movie lands new writer

Jay Basu has been hired to pen the Metal Gear Solid movie, which is still pressing ahead...

The planned big screen take on the Metal Gear Solid videogames remains an active project, and we now learn that a new writer has been signed up to take a shot at the screenplay.

Jay Basu, who co-wrote the incoming Monsters: Dark Continent, is the writer concerned. He's been working with Universal on its classic monster cinematic universe too, and he now has to get the Metal Gear Solid screenplay in place, ready for director Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings Of Summer, which if you haven't seen, we can't recommend highly enough).

The movie is being produced by Avi and Ari Arad, and we don't yet have an idea of when the film is scheduled before. Presumably all concerned would be quite keen to get cracking, though.

More on the Metal Gear Solid movie as we hear it.
