Five Nights At Freddy's Movie in the Works

Horror game series Five Nights At Freddy's has been picked up for a movie adaptation, it's been announced...

Point-and-click horror adventure series Five Nights At Freddy's has, in the space of less than a year, grown into a bit of a cult phenomenon.

The game, which sees players stuck in a pizza restaurant haunted by a murderous robotic animal band, has already had two sequels, each made hugely popular by fans who've shared their experiences with them on YouTube.

That pop cultural impact hasn't gone unnoticed by the denizens of Tinseltown. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Five Nights At Freddy's has been picked up by Warner Bros, with producers Roy Lee, Seth Grahame Smith and David Katzenberg producing.

The news is sure to delight creator Scott Cawthon, the indie designer of the original games.

"The story really lends itself to being a movie and it taps into a largely unexplored niche of horror that a lot of people will be able to relate to," Scott told THR.

Writers and directors have yet to be attached at this early stage. But given Five Nights' blackly comic underpinnings, might we humbly suggest James Gunn?
