Daredevil Season 2 Confirmed by Marvel and Netflix

Great, if unsurprising, news. Daredevil Season 2 is a go on Netflix. New details on AKA Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, too...

To absolutely nobody's surprise, the wildy acclaimed Daredevil Netflix series is getting a second season.

However, showrunner Steven S. DeKnight won't be back for Daredevil season two, unfortunately. Doug Petrie (American Horror Story) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy) will fulfill that role. Jeph Loeb will also return as an executive producer.

“While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season," DeKnight said in a statement, "I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can't wait to see what they do with the show moving forward."

The good news, though, is that we don't have to wait for the entire sequence of Marvel Netflix shows to run their course before we get more Daredevil. We can expect Daredevil season two in 2016. Along with this announcement, Marvel confirmed that we'll see AKA Jessica Jones before the end of 2015, and that Luke Cage will arrive in 2016. Still no word on Iron Fist, and The Defenders is even further off, for obvious reasons.

We'll have more on Daredevil season two later this week.
