Henry Cavill: Batman V Superman isn't a Man Of Steel sequel

Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is more about introducing Batman and the Justice League, suggests Henry Cavill.

Once upon a time, the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice was supposedly going to be the sequel to 2013's Man Of Steel movie. But as time has gone on, it's become clear that director Zack Snyder has bigger plans. Thus, Batman is being re-introduced, and we're also getting the latest - and in some cases first - screen appearances of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Alfred, Lex Luthor and more.

Well, no. Because it's not really his sequel.

In a new interview with MTV, Henry Cavill - the incumbent Superman - pretty much confirms what had become obvious. "I wouldn’t call this a Superman sequel," he admitted. "This is Batman V Superman, so it’s a separate entity altogether. It’s introducing the Batman character, and expanding upon this universe, which was kicked off by Man Of Steel. It’s an introduction to the character, and ultimately an introduction to Justice League."

Make of that what you will. Warner Bros and DC are still planning a standalone Superman movie in the future, although a date for that hasn't been confirmed as of yet. And clearly, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice - as we saw from the first trailer - will pick up at least one or two themes from Man Of Steel.
