Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Casts New Shredder

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 will have a more faithful version of the Shredder than the first film.

Here's the thing: I didn't hate the 2014 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. I didn't particularly like it, either, but I didn't hate it. They got the Turtles right. They dropped the ball on things like, y'know, a story, but the boys were appropriately radical.

But if there was one completely inexcusable thing about that TMNT reboot, it was the complete and utter bungling of the Shredder. That was some unrecognizable, unnecessary nonsense right there. I wasn't having it.

Well, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 appears to be correcting a few sins. They're bringing in classic cartoon favorites like Bepop & Rocksteady and Baxter Stockman, and they've got Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) playing Casey Jones. That's cool. But most importantly they're fixing the Shredder issue.

Brian Tee (you perhaps enjoyed him in The Wolverine) will play the Shredder in this one. And it's not any of that Eric Sachs nonsense. I presume this is the proper Oroku Saki version of the character. At least that's what I'm hoping.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 arrives on June 3rd, 2016.
