Stephen King's IT Remake Casts Pennywise the Clown

The new film version of IT from True Detective director Cary Fukunaga has found an appropriate Pennywise.

You can't make an IT movie without an evil clown. But finding the right evil clown has been difficult, especially when this one has to fill Tim Curry's big red shoes. That's not a problem anymore, though, as Cary Fukunaga's adaptation of Stephen King's IT has cast Pennywise.

Will Poulter, a 22 year old actor who was in We're The Millers and who can next be seen in Birdman director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's The Revenant, is Pennywise in the It remake. It director Cary Fukunaga had previously expressed some concern about finding the right actor for Pennywise, but was apparently "blown away" by Poulter's audition.

IT will be split into two films, and begins production this summer. The split will be fairly sensible, with the first film dealing with the protagonists as children, while the second deals with adulthood.

Cary Fukunaga also co-wrote the screenplay for IT with Chase Palmer. There's no release date just yet, but there's a chance this one can make an appearance in 2016.
