Ratchet & Clank movie in the works, Stallone to star

Much-loved videogame Ratchet & Clank is getting the animated big-screen treatment, with Sylvester Stallone set to star...

Launched in 2002, the Ratchet & Clank series has become one of the PlayStation's mainstays, with the adventures of its feline and robot odd-couple appearing on every Sony system to date.

It's now been revealed that an animated film adaptation is in the works, with the videogame series' regular voice cast being joined by a galaxy of starry names.

First up: Sylvester Stallone, who's previously lent his distinctive vocals to movies like Antz and Zookeeper (in the latter, he provided the voice of Joe the Lion). Joining him will be Paul Giamatti, John Goodman, and Rosario Dawson (who was also in Zookeeper, but as a human being rather than a talking animal).

Rachet & Clank will be - brace yourself - an origin story, exploring how the furry Ratchet met his robot sidekick. Giamatti will play the lead villain, Chairman Drek, while Stallone will provide the voice of his lieutenant, Victor Von Ion.

The movie is to be joined by a new videogame on the PlayStation 4, currently being developed by Insomniac. Both game and movie were originally slated for this summer, but they've now been pushed back until 2016.

More news on this as it comes in.
