True Detective Season 2 Gets a Second Trailer From HBO

True Detective season 2 trailer sets a dark and desperate tone.

Sometimes your worst self is your best self, advises Vince Vaughn in the second trailer for True Detective season 2. What follows shows the cast of True Detective season 2 being the best worst selves they could possibly be.

HBO released a second trailer True Detective season two, which stars Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch. Nic Pizzolatto, who created the series and writes every episode, says the newer truer detectives won’t be facing off against supernatural demons but the devils inside. As Farrell’s character suspects, “we get the world we deserve.”

True Detective’s sophomore season is going to take place in the seedier sides of California and pit three law enforcement officers from different divisions tracking a career criminal, Vince Vaughn in shades. “This isn’t me doing this,” he reminds himself in the trailer under the glare of red nightclub lights.

Rachel McAdams is concerned that “nobody cares.”

We care, Rachel. True Detective brought out the best in supernatural TV last year. As they go au natural, we care a lot.

The first two episodes will be directed by Justin Lin.

True Detective season 2 premieres on HBO on June 21.
