Bad Santa 2 may finally shoot this autumn
Could it actually happen at last? Entourage director Doug Ellin says he's set to shoot Bad Santa 2 this autumn, if all goes to plan...
Bad Santa 2 is a film that's been written about on and off for a long time, seemingly without actually coming too close to being made. The last we heard was that Billy Bob Thornton said in October 2014 the project was still on the cards, but that "we're just waiting for a script."
Might the wait soon be over, though?
In an interview with Collider ahead of the release of his Entourage movie, writer/director Doug Ellin has dropped the news that "I'm supposed to do Bad Santa 2 in September."
He added that "the exact status is we're working on the script right now and if we get it right, we'll shoot in September or October. Billy Bob is back and good to go, and that's the status."
Ellin also confirmed that the plan is for another R-rated cut, "hopefully a similar tone to the first one."
It still sounds like there's a hurdle or two to negotiate, but it might just be that Bad Santa 2 finally gets made this year. More as we hear it...
