Watch Red Band Trailer for Dope

Check out the funny red band trailer for Dope, a new anticipated comedy-drama about when teen life and crime intersect.

There are plenty of action-packed, spectacle heavy movies for you to see this summer that marketing departments are spending tens of millions of dollars (or more) on to get your attention. Yet, if the word of mouth is to be believed, coming fresh out of Sundance is another film that appears to be well, well worth your time. It might not have any capes, but it has a central geeky teen character that gets wrapped up into a much more direct world of crime.

As seen in the genuinely funny (and shocking) red band trailer below, Dope is the tale of Malcolm (Shameik Moore), a neighborhood kid who is carefully surviving life in a tough LA area. A chance invitation to an underground party leads him into an adventure that could allow him to go from being a geek, to being dope, as well as selling the stuff. Maybe he’ll find himself along the way?

Dope also stars Tony Revolori, Kiersey Clemons, Blake Anderson, and Zoe Kravitz; it’s written and directed by Rick Famuyiwa. The picture is also produced by Forest Whitaker and executive produced by Pharrell Williams and Sean Combs.

Dope opens on June 19, 2015.
