Ash vs. Evil Dead TV Series Trailer

Ash vs. Evil Dead TV Series Story

Here's the official synopsis:

Bruce Campbell returns as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

Dread Central (A hat tip to the folks at Bloody Disgusting for first bringing this next bit to my attention) have more details, too:

We are introduced to a nomadic Ash, a figure who’s not only haunted by traumatic memories but also terrorized by the unwelcome continuance of Deadite attacks, which have followed him to the myriad Midwestern trailer parks he’s been forced to call home. In an effort to eke out an existence and in keeping with his previous choice of career, the character spends his days working at Ted’s Superclub as a stock room trainee and, in true Ash fashion, his evenings chasing skirt in roadside bars.

Ash vs. Evil Dead TV Series Cast

Ash vs. Evil Dead also stars Lucy Lawless as Ruby, "a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks," Jill Marie Jones (Sleepy Hollow) as Amanda Fisher, "a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner," Ray Santiago (Touch, Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, "an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick," and Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, "a moody wild child trying to outrun her past."

Mimi Rogers of Mad Men and Austin Powers has joined the cast of the Army of Darkness TV series. Rogers will play Suzy Maxwell, a woman reunited with her family and several uninvited guests (Deadites or the Chin?) following a freak accident.

Ash vs. Evil Dead Air Date

Ash vs. Evil Dead has a ten episode season planned, and production is underway in New Zealand. It should premiere on Starz in time for Halloween. Sam Raimi will direct the first episode. Bloody Disgusting has the details on who will direct future episodes of Ash vs. Evil Dead (Sam Raimi is doing the honors for the pilot). Michael J. Basset, David Frazee, Michael Hurst, Tony Tilse, and Rick Jacobson will each occupy the chair.

By the way, Bruce Campbell has some choice words for The Walking Dead, the show that dominates zombie television at the moment:

“We are competitive with ‘The Walking Dead,’ like, ‘We’ll show those fuckers!’ [Our] Deadites are very clever. They're not stupid shufflers. They can mimic people; they can drive cars. They’re a fun threat. They [‘The Walking Dead’] are right up there [though] with being responsible for the current resurgence [of horror].”
