Assassin's Creed: First poster for the movie

Michael Fassbender is to star in Assassin's Creed: The Movie, due in December 2016. Here's the promo poster...

It feels like it's taken a long, long time to get this far, but the Assassin's Creed movie should finally go before the cameras later this year.

Michael Fassbender has remained attached to the project for a while now, and he's set to star and produce. Justin Kurzel, who's recently directed Fassbender in a new screen version of Macbeth, is helming the Assassin's Creed movie as well. Their collaboration on Macbeth is already picking up impressive reviews.

Filming is finally set to begin in September, and UbiSoft has issued the first promotional poster for the movie. It's done so ahead of the annual video games shindig that is E3, taking place later this month. And whilst the poster doesn't actually reveal much - short of the fact that the working title appears to be Assassin's Creed: The Movie - it does tease that we may find out a little more about the film during E3.

Assassin's Creed: The Movie (we may as well call it that for now) is set for release on December 21st 2016.
