The Strain is going nationwide in season 2 unless it can be stopped in New York.

FX dropped the new trailer for The Strain season 2. The trailer warns that as goes New York, so goes the world. The Strain team has some vampire blood and are looking to fighting the vampire virus with an antivirus.

The Strain tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the NYC Center for Disease Control Canary Team who are trying to get to the bottom of a viral outbreak that turns people into vampires.

Eph is working with Dr. Nora Martinez (Mía Maestro) to make a biological weapon out of some ancient vampire blood Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley) delivered to them. Last season the team tried to kill The Master vampire, but failed.

According to the official synopsis: "The Strain is a high concept thriller that tells the story of 'Dr. Ephraim Goodweather,' the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself."

The Strain also stars Ruta Gedmintas as Dutch Velders; Natalie Brown as Kelly Bradley; David Bradley as Abraham Setrakian and Kevin Durand (as Vasilly Fet), who offer their own insight into the new season.

The pilot was written by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan who are also co-creators and executive producers.
