Trailer for Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks’ Bridge of Spies

Watch the trailer for the new Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Coen Brothers Cold War collaboration, Bridge of Spies.

So, there’s a movie with Steven Spielberg, the Coen Brothers, and Tom Hanks attached. Need I go on? If so, you should then know that Bridge of Spies is a Cold War era film based on the true story of James Donovan (Tom Hanks), a Brooklyn born attorney secretly recruited by the CIA to journey into the Soviet Union to negotiate the release of downed U-2 spy plane pilot Gary Powers…by way of exchange for another Soviet spy captured by the United States government.

But in addition to Spielberg doing a Cold War film, the legendary filmmaker has upped the prestige by bringing Joel and Ethan Coen onboard to write a draft of the film from a script originally written by Matt Charman. The film also stars Mark Rylance as Rudolf Abel, the captured KGB agent that Donovan defended in a court of law, Scott Shepherd as a CIA operative, Amy Ryan as Donovan’s wife Mary, Sebastian Koch as an East German lawyer, and Alan Alda as Thomas Watters, a partner at Donovan’s law firm.

Bridge of Spies also marks Spielberg and Hanks’ fourth collaboration as director and actor, having previously collaborated on Saving Private Ryan, Catch Me if You Can, and The Terminal.

This definition of a must-see opens October 16, 2015.
