Say what you will about the 2014 Lionsgate film to take us to Panem, there is no denying you’ll be there for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. This is the grand finale to four years of trials and tribulations for Katniss Everdeen and her legions of fans, and it is time to turn our attention to the Capitol; it’s time for a final showdown between Jennifer Lawrence as the Girl on Fire and an awesomely malevolent Donald Sutherland.
Following the cliffhanger ending of the last film where Peeta was rescued but severely damaged by Capitol brainwashing, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 finds Panem in a full scale war when Katniss surpasses her PR and propaganda role to bring revolution to President Snow’s doorstep. With a group of her closest friends that includes Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Katniss will lead an assassination attempt on President Snow. And this time, there will be no games as both she and Snow are playing for keeps.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 is directed by Francis Lawrence, who helmed the last two Hunger Games films, and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Julianne Moore, Jeffrey Wright, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Natalie Dormer, Stanley Tucci, and Donald Sutherland. The film opens in 2D and 3D on November 20, 2015.
