Street Fighter V: Cammy and Birdie Return!

It's an English invasion of speed and strength as Street Fighter V's roster expands by two in this E3 footage!

At E3, Sony showed off a snippet of Street Fighter V footage. Makes sense, considering Street Fighter V is a PlayStation 4 console exclusive.

Among all the quick shots, they showed the classic “HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER” graphic and let us know that joining Ryu, Chun-Li, M. Bison, and Charlie Nash are Cammy White and Birdie.

Here’s the brief trailer:

Cammy, otherwise known as Killer Bee, first showed up in 1993’s Super Street Fighter II. Since then, she’s joined Chun-Li as the other go-to female character of the series. Originally given a mysterious past, Cammy’s backstory has been revealed as an amnesiac clone of M. Bison created as a soldier and failsafe host body for Bison’s soul in case of his death. She’s been able to break away from him and find a life as part of a British military agency called Delta Red, but as of the last game, Ultra Street Fighter IV, she’s had her problems escaping the ghosts of her past. She really hates pants for some reason.

Fellow Brit Birdie predates even Cammy. Birdie appeared in the very first Street Fighter as one of two opponents in England (Eagle being the other). Although white in that game, Birdie was redesigned as a black man with a more ridiculous mohawk in Street Fighter Alpha. Birdie’s been obsessed with joining M. Bison’s Shadaloo and spent the Alpha series working his way into the organization. He hasn’t been seen since Alpha 3 and he’s presumably spent a lot of the time in-between at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Look at that gut!

It’ll be interesting to see which announcement we’ll get next: Ken Masters or any original character. We’re about due for either.
