Hitman: Agent 47 Gets a New Trailer

Watch Rupert Friend blast his way through the new trailer for Hitman: Agent 47, the latest video game adaptation.

It’s tough enough already being a spy in big Hollywood spectacles. Having to crash cars, win shoot outs, and seduce women is surely plenty of work as it is—so when you add video game level stakes and melodrama to the equation, it can become downright overwhelming. Hopefully though, Rupert Friend as our latest incarnation of Square Enix’s Hitman protagonist will be more up to the job than the last time Fox adapted the game series.

Indeed, Friend stars as the titular assassin in Hitman: Agent 47, which takes another crack at a world where spies are not only trained, but grown from a test tube all the way to the killing fields. In the new trailer (released via of IGN), you can watch him do his thing while he also recruits a new “gifted” hitwoman like himself…

Hitman: Agent 47 centers on an elite assassin who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. He is the culmination of decades of research and forty-six earlier Agent clones -- endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence. His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47's past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe.

The film stars Rupert Friend, Hannah Ware, Zachary Quinto, Ciarán Hinds, and Thomas Kretschmann. It is directed by Aleksander Bach.

Hitman: Agent 47 has its number up on Aug. 28, 2015.
