Trailer for Showtime's Billions Arrives

Check out the trailer for Billions, a new Showtime series about the "greed is good" set starring Paul Giamatti and Damien Lewis.

"Greed is good." It is a line of dialogue that Oliver Stone once meant to indict an entire culture of 1980s financing when it was whispered by his closest approximation of a WASPy big screen Lucifer. Yet, it did not play out that way as Gordon Gekko became an icon to that entire community both then and for generations hence. Indeed, one can imagine it is the credo of Damien Lewis' new Showtime protagonist, Bobby "the Axe" Axelrod in Billions.

The new Showtime series, which appears to pit its conflict as a battle between the U.S. government and one especially slick hedge fund manager, already appeared to be one to watch with a cast that includes Lewis, Paul Giamatti, and Malin Akerman. But now, just as we learn it will premiere on Sunday, Jan. 17 at 10pm (right after Shameless), so too do we have our first trailer for the new Showtime series.

Giamatti will play crusading U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades as he clashes with one of the richest hedge fund managers in Manhattan, Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Lewis). Malin Akerman, Maggie Siff, Toby Leonard Moore, David Costabile, and Condola Rashad are also going to star in the series. The pilot has already been filmed and was directed byDivergent’s Neil Burger, who also serves as an executive producer on the series.
