Jungle Book Trailer Has Mowgli In Constant Danger

The first trailer for Disney's upcoming live-action The Jungle Book has Mowgli in constant, visually-stunning danger.

The latest in Disney's live-action remakes might just be its most visually-ambitious adaptation yet. The first trailer for the live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book just hit the Internet and it is full of jawdropping visuals that pretty much go hand-in-hand with little Mowgli being in constant danger. But, he does get to sit on a floating Baloo's belly while the bear whistles him a song, so it's not all life-or-death drama.

All of our The Jungle Book favorites will be present and accounted for in the new film: Baloo (voiced by Bill Murray), Mowgli, Bagheera (voiced by Ben Kingsley), Shere Khan (voiced by Idris Elba), Kaa (voiced by Scarlett Johansson), King Louie (voiced by Christopher Walken), and Raksha (voiced by Lupita Nyong'o).

The only actor to actually appear in the film will be newcomer Neel Sethi, who is playing Mowgli. Director Jon Favreau (Iron Man) used technology first pioneered by James Cameron for Avatar to bring the other characters to life. From the looks of the trailer, he did an amazing job. The film looks scary and wondrous at the same time as we watch Mowgli interact with what appears on screen to be very real animals — including some rather dangerous predators.

The Jungle Book is slated to hit theaters on April 15, 2016, and will be screened in 3D and IMAX 3D, as well as 2D. Warner Bros. also has a The Jungle Book adaptation in the works called Jungle Book: Origins. That film has motion capture guru Andy Serkis directing with voice work from Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Christian Bale.
